Cool, thanks!

If you do have it, will it fit on a standard scanner, or is it a large format? I'm not sure what size my scanner bed is, but it's BIG.

Not sure on the late empire stuff, honestly. I don't know a lot about Roman stuff, that's why I got this book from ILL I scanned any pic that interested me, which was most everything. I left out a few pics from the lorica hamata section, and a few pics of stone carvings of Trajan's column. I also le...

Max, I would never post scans from a book that is still in print. I am just trying to give back to this community. I knew it was a bit of a slippery slope when I posted them. Rohlgrim, There are some small pics of the valsgarde and vendel helms, I will scan them in a bit. They are the same drawings ...

Sean, Glad I could help. If you think of anything else you'd like to see, let me know and I will see what I can find in the book. Those 1:1 scale drawings are amazing, IMO. The scans are 600 dpi, and are quite large. My scanner will do up to 4800 dpi , but I fear it would take all day for one pic an...

Coppergate helm scans uploaded

Sean Powell wanted to check up the pictures from "The Anglican Helm From Coppergate" and I thought others might as well. I scanned all of the full size pics, and some smaller pics of how the helm is assembled. The large pics are HUGE, and have an amazing amount of detail. There is a ton of...

I was contemplating doing that very thing with the furniture nails. What type of rivets do you use and do you have any problems crushing or deforming the washers?

If you talk really nice to me, I'll let you borrow my gas bottle and a spool of wire so you can test it out. See if you can get the sears model number for me and I will see if I can pull up the specs on it. Should be a 5 diget number, I think. Also, see if they will throw in gloves, helmet, etc. You...

O.K., to clarify, my cylinder was brown, and was 75% CO2, 25% Argon, and it cost be @ $20 to exchange. The add says it needs wire and gas, so it doesn't sound like you can test it easily. YMMV

Jim, That welder will probably suit your needs for hobbyist welding. As others have said, the bottel alone is worth that much. A quick look shows the gas cylinders run around $80 new, and the cheapest regulator I can find is $30. I would get the model number and check with Sears parts and service fo...

I don't think the heat will affect the brass, but if it does, just polish it back up with 0000 steel wool. This also works to get surface rust off of the steel, without affecting the blueing. I just scrub with the steel wool and a bit of wd 40. Hjalmr, I have blued a helm over a turkey fryer propane...
