Really?

I DO still feel most SCA coppes are too big. Mine are smaller than correct for this though. :D

For sale: 14th century stainless legs

My interpretation of 14th century legs. 15 ga, stainless coppes, 17 ga. stainless on the balance. Note the nice tulip shape of the cuisses. These should fit someone 5'7-5'9 roughly 175 lbs. Price is $450 + shipping. http://home.armourarchive.org/members/mykaru/14thfronta.jpg also links to larger pic...

The problem is simple. The ratio is the same as for the picture. Unfortunately, that ratio is appropriate for someone 4'11.

Run a search for suneate and look at the ones I did for Guillaume. Same style but for a modern person.

Win the lottery, then make armour when money isn't important. Actually, read the link JT posted, then read it again. Everybody loves your work AND offers to buy it if you'll go into business. Unfortunately they want to BUY it at Walmart prices while you work at less than a 1/4 of what you'd make at ...

They are bent over the anvil horn and rough dished into either my lead block or my pitch. Final shaping is raising on my big T-stake then rolling the suji.

The tool is a broken drill bit ground down to a chisel point. As for the color, rust and color shift from heating to normalize it (torch). It will be sand-blasted and powdercoated.

Kabuto progress pics

Well it's coming along... slowly. But as THIS one is for Eff, I certainly don't want to rush it. Note: the ribs will be filed down a bit before it's finished. I made them higher than I want so they can be filed uniformly when the top is done. Anyway here is the top before welding, koshimaki or mabiz...

It looks interesting. One suggestion. The inside piece is always short (about the length of the calf muscle only). It doesn't extend down to the ankle. The outside piece should be wider however.

Pics late of 14th century legs?

The title says it all. Specifically rear views if possible. I am most interested in rear cuisse plates (wrap plates). Altar pieces, illustrations? (Effigies unfortunately aren't much help).

I am working hard to raise the level of my work. I need more reference, however.

Translated an ogekawa 2-piece dou with decorative scallops on the top.

(yokohagi is actually pretty redundant. Unless a tatehagi was specified, yokohagi is assumed)

Ray, I know you've been studying hard and have learned alot since this one was made. The 1 thing I would do with *this* suit to improve the appearance is.. ..(deep breath) re-lace. Anything other than that, you are better off starting a new one, but re-lacing with a wider flat braid would really imp...

Mike, Good start. As Eff said the glaring point now is the leading edge of the dorsal plate. The front center is right where it should be, so when you trim the corners it should be just right. *I* would work the dorsal plate over my stake a little more for more of an arc (side to side). Fitting the ...

Not bad Mike. The profile works. NOW you want to roll or at least flare the edges on the muneita etc. 20 ga. without lips or rolls will cut you to pieces. Do EVERYTHING you want to do before the heat treat. Every hole needs to be drilled (otherwise those nice cobalt bits will last about 3 holes). Vi...
