Vitus shield for sale
I bought one of Vitus's shields back in December and it has done a fine job occupying a corner of my dining room ever since. Given my hectic work schedule and the number of other projectrs on my current back log I will not get to this any time soon. Given that I'm sick of moving it out of my way I w...

The winner of the Bear Pit was Lord Drugar Mensch, the Hael's very own knight marshal! I remember when he picked up that goofy double headed ax/sword form and I used to walk him all around the room. Then I didn't make practice for a while and came against him in a Summers End tourney and had stabbed...

if talking about the getting hit is more fun then talking about hitting BOY DO I HAVE SOME STORIES TO TELL I have figured out exactly what I need to do to kill Maynard... not I just need to figure out what to do to keep him from killing me while I'm doing it! My understanding is the format this year...

Sir Graedwyn one of my fondest memories of last years Ice Dragon was marshalling and watching you and your son fight, the first time when he teleported across the list and landed a telling blow you were quit surprised... the next time he didn't get quit as close! Olaf don't feel bad, I fight his Exc...

don't let his Excellency Maynard fool y'all, he just wanted to give someone else a chance to win the tourney (which is good 'cause we're sick of calling him name every year!!!) Seriously Maynard thank you for being MIC, it's nice to have so many people willing to volunteer each year and pull this hu...

glad to see some archivers coming up to my little Barony even happier to see someone will be there selling armor! Ice Dragon can be hit of miss with armorers, sometimes we have six and sometimes we have none. Seems like a shame because we regularly have around 100 fighters depending on the weather. ...

Syr Finn, I sold one of our locals a butted shirt off ebay for $100, he cut the extra length off the sleeves and bottom and used it for the shoulders. Little time with snips and sewing some leather on and it looks good. He uses it mostly for boffer but it has seen rattan both when I owed it and sinc...

Lasik spring 1998, told to take six weeks off but took 8 just to be paranoid. Blocked my head REALLY well that Pennsic. Never had a problem. 20/400 with an astigmatism (sp?) before 20/15 post. LOVE the fact that I don't need glasses. It was the single wierdest thing I've voluntarily put my body thro...

Count Robin, I hate how much of a tard I look like watching you hit me with a stick . Some day I'll remember to actually block and throw shots back at you rather than watching in amazement of how fast your sword is flying at me! Olaf, thanks for putting these up, it's nice to be able to sit in your ...

Largest tourney in AEthelmearc happens at The Festival of the Passing of the Ice Dragon event in March in my own little Barony. The three years I ran it we were over 100 fighters. The worst I've seen when the weather went TO HELL..... it is Buffalo, NY in March after all.... was about 50, one of who...

Count Robin vs Unk 1 - THL Aquila d'Athos (former Hael) Lord Baldo vs Unk 1 - Daidolas (Hael - Callidus squire) Lord Baldo vs Unk 2 - Lord Drugar Mensch (Hael - member Tygersguard) Unknown Fighters 2 - Lord Steven (HRH Rurik's ...

best advice: when you do your pell work..... wear at least your arm harness. As you have discovered your technique in armor is different than you technique out of armor... wear your arms because what you learn without them will NOT translate to what you can do in them. I recommend arms & body... no ...

Corwin, I once had a legal issue with an armor that took six years to deliver a helm & legs. When I threatened to sue I talked to a lawyer I know and because the armorer did not have any assets in New York state even if I won their was no way for them to enforce the judgement. What would have happen...

Gregory I don't think it's an issue of what it's worth from a time and materials stand point, I think that the SCA is just the wrong market place for this item for one reason.... you are 6 feet tall with a 38" chest. In the "real world" I am a relatively large mammal at 6'4" 265 lbs (a 52" chest, 54...

Just a thought but with perf plate in the eyes this would easily convert to a really cool fencing helmet.... that's what I plan on buying a kit for. I'm going to order one and not put the back on in steel as I will likely add hardened leather and maybe a knuut welded chainmail aventail (got to check...

and for the comment section: in total this project probably took my 2 1/2 hours not counting dry time on the stain which could be days given the temps right now. All in all it was harder to think through the process and make the necessary decisions then it was to actually make the weapon. I did not ...
