Step 3
made a pattern for the shape I wanted to add to the top of the rattan. Cut out two layers of 1/2" foam (blue camp mat from Wally World) and one layer or 1/4" foam (Yoga mat also from Wally World). Taped them together then trimmed everything so all three layers were identical.

Step 2 tried putting in rattan spacers and taping it up but didn't like the "feel" when hitting the pell, even with the spacers only a few inches apart the striking surface felt flexible and week. So I pulled a sword blank of rattan out of my rafters that I will never use for anything else because i...

But for AEthelmearc S/S team for a 10 man melee, would have the following. And this is a list of folks I believe would work as a team, not as 10 individuals, so some bigger names who would wipe the tourney field with these names are gonna be left off. Syr Fynn, I would agree with one change, Sir Is...

the funny thing about growin up in AEthelmearc is that everyone seems to use the stacked title when referring to individuals, but most of the individuals I know who have earned multiple titles hate the use of stacked titles. I believe that period examples for this in formal settings, such as being i...

from what I've heard Count Sir Henri is on the road with his band, he is also very active with Redshield 1391 and trying to get that group off the ground so he's been kind of on hiatus from the SCA. As the winners of this crown will be the 20th K&Q a LOT of rumors where swirling around before this c...

if what I've heard is true then His Grace Rurik is having knee surgery the week after crown... nothing major and the doctors have told him delaying the surgery won't do any more damage... but his major talent is his speed and flexibility which may be limited. Sir Aengus has spent a lot of time since...

Mike, the other option would be to have Cet direct ship to your customer without showing his name on the return address. Granted that would only work for the most basic style as I'm sure he isnt' going to want to mass produce your current variety of fan designs, etc but it would give you one less as...

I armor for me, have never sold a piece that I made unless it was something I used and then decided I didn't want or need anymore. I will never make a piece of armor for a "customer" because my real life job can tie me up for 40 hours or 70 hours in any given week and I never know which it's going t...

I did that with my first set of armor which was a set of (plastic) lorica with leather arms. I put a strap under the big winged shoulders of the lorica and a second strap and buckle on the rerebrace. It did hold the arms up, especially given that the buckle was on the rerebrace it gave good adjustab...

Authorization is about being a safe fighter, not about being a competent judge of armor, or about being capable of being an inspecting marshal. hi Sir Corby Sorry... guess I didn't explain myself very clearly. Arms & Armour of the Medieval Knight
For anyone interested At Pennsic I found a book merchant who had 3 copies of AATMK by Edge & Paddock and was selling them for the ridiculously low price of $20 each. After purchasing my copy and explaining that she could get a lot more for them she told me she's always sold them at this price and ha...

having seen this sword a couple nights ago I have to say.... it's pretty damn cool Avarga made one last year using EVA to form the shape and it was not a good thing as the entire striking surface was foam making recognition of shots hard.
