Some inside shots of the armpit gusset and it's range of motion would be great too.

That one. Anything you want to take for me would be great. Doing a full black and white but starting with a prototype on the breastplate for now. The backplate pics already helped a lot.
And a pic from the top would also be fantastic.
Thanks.

Need some side profile pics of black and white breastplate.
Hopefully wade has more pics of the ones he has somewhere for me and will post em here but need whatever shots people have of these that have been taken from an armourers point of view. Most pics I could find are straight on and nearly useless.

Re: Anyone need armouring tools?
Hey Hal what would it cost for just the heads (no stake attached don't need polishing either) for the knuckle ones round and pyramid and the finger tip and a larger finger tip to be used for thumbs? I'd either be putting my normal stake on them for my bench or setting them up for my press or setting...

What's your budget? Depending on quality of the work prices can vary hugely so if you have a rough budget to post here it's a good starting point.

Bumping this up because I need cash for bills and the new sets haven't sold enough to make it worthwhile to do the splinted arms yet.

Stainless fingermittens available need cash for bills.
I've been told I'm not charging enough for things by quite a bit of people. So at the end of next week fingermitten prices are going to go up $50/pair. Get them now while they're still only $550 or $650 with enclosed thumbtip. Currently have a pair of stainless wisby fingermittens in stock. These on...

I'll echo the are they available. When I stopped in Murdoch told me there weren't any big sizes left at pennsic.
If they're available I'll take them pending pics. I was sad that I didn't get to buy any new boots at pennsic.

Each of those crafts on their own take a lifetime to learn. even if you live to be 200 years old. It's kinda like saying I want to learn to be a doctor a lawyer an engineer and something else only those only take 7 years to learn. I recommend thinking about which one most interests you and start wor...

Re: Elbows with rerebraces/vambraces?
Two straps on the inside set at thirds around the elbow. Space between holes on the strap about 3 3/8" and then put the holes to attach the strap to the vambrace 2" in from the elbow end of the vambrace. Works amazingly. Holds the vambrace in place allows huge range of motion including twi...

No the ones I'm talking about are no where near as nice as the ones you posted. Small simple and cheap (in construction and price). They're a little bigger then my hand. Probably could make 20 of the $5 ones in an hour if you're set up to make them. They're more along the lines of dollar store stuff...

I also once made a coat of plates kit for a guy with a 74" chest. He wasn't extra tall or anything but did weigh 680 pounds.
That knee fit though with just enough room for padding.

Good point. Actually asking for a decimal thickness won't necessarily get you it either. If you're shooting to hit .0625 you better bring a mic with you. Because when something is sold as .0625 there is still a manufacturing tolerance.

An air planisher is possibly the single most effective time saving device you will ever get if you're shaping armour with a hammer.
Also probably one of the most effective devices for preventing injury from repetetive hammering.

Re: question about harbor freight tools
The foot pedal and the dies for the air planisher are worth the price of it on their own. the one I built 10 years ago aint pretty but it works. I've killed 4 or 5 air hammers in it but they cost $10 and I've planished around 3,000 shield bosses and that's just shield bosses. Mine planishes 14ga sta...

Generally in north america manufacturers standard gauge is used. Go buy yourself a gauge measuring thingie. Check your stuff when you go buy it. Looks like a circle with a bunch of different size slots around the edge. Since we're making armour it's not rocket science so it's pretty unlikely that me...

Re: dissimilar metals and heat-treatment
Neat wasn't aware of the effect of surface area ratios. Attaching brass trim etc to mild would cause galvanic corrosion at the area of surface contact though correct? So the effect with brass trim isn't usually visible because the area of surface contact isn't visible. Also it's true that this isn't...
