I'm also available to do stuff for in person delivery to pennsic (no shipping fees) prefer a full suit for pennsic delivery but will consider other things.

It's easy to undo but difficult to re-do if you've used a non petrolieum based oil on it.

Re: Coat of plates instruction set available now.

It's gonna be $10 for splinted greaves. $10 for splinted legs without the knees and $10 for the soupcan elbows and knees (one set for both) or $25 for all three. But not till they're finished.

Open comission slot. Quick turnaround.

So I've got a couple orders on the go and have some new slots open. No stainless helmets at the moment. Stainless, mild, aluminum or sping for anything else. $500 minimum order value. Prices might be different then what's on my site. Not limited to things that are on my site. Can do much higher end ...

Probably the same reason I don't make cup hilts. You can't make any money on them at that price and nobody's willing to pay what they're worth.

Greathelms are different. There's a fair bit of overlaps and nearly no complex curves. A 14ga greathelm is less likely to get dented then a 12ga bascinet.

Re: Guantlet ouchy

Need a pic of the back of the gauntlets. I think I can see what's going on and a pic from the back should be able to tell me exactly what to tell you to do. Looks like the cuff is waaaaay too big. The finger part fits right but the thumb is waaaaay too far out. For the finger straps Take them out. A...

Re: Guantlet ouchy

WTF is that? No way in hell you should need to have that much padding in a gauntlet. Perhaps the problem is that they don't come anywhere close to fitting you? At first I thought the pic was a joke with your hand in a helmet or something. My hourglass fingermittens take severe beatings with no paddi...

Re: Sexy legs and arms now with finished pics.

That's correct. I'm leaning more towards the custom end of things lately so choosing the type of rivets isn't a problem.

These are mediocre compared to what I could be doing but nobody's come to me with the budget yet. Might have to make myself something.

Re: dishing a shield boss?

Aluminum cracks easy on sharp corners. rounded curves are generally ok. You'll want to hit it harder less times though. You'll kill some of the temper but aluminum becomes more pliable at a pretty low temperature. ie. put it on the barbeque or high temp in your oven and you'll be good. Sand bag prob...

Re: sources for brass buckles for armor? (14 cen )

Straps on armour are usually more like 1/2" on originals I use 3/4" ones. You can really easily make brass buckles though that would be appropriate. Bend brass wire around a piece of square something that's the size you want. Thickness of wire you want. On the outside part of the buckles c...

Re: I hate 11ga. steel...

The helmet is gonna be way too heavy so don't bother making it. 14 everywhere is plenty for a greathelm. That said. Get two pieces of pipe about 2" diameter. Attach them to sawhorses or something about 2" apart. Put them between the pipes and push down on the end close to you. this is what...

Re: Sexy legs and arms progress pics.

Andy I think this set is costing the guy $750 for the legs and greaves and full arms with full wrap rearbraces and integral spaulders. The cuisse should be sucked in above the knee yes but it needs heat for that and that's not being paid for. The greaves also have a pretty sucky side profile because...

Ya know if enough people convinced him he should charge at least $1,200 for a helmet like that he might decide he wants to be an armourer again.

$350 is completely insanely retarded.

I turn the pressure up to 135 psi on my air planisher when it's really rough. Then do another pass at lower psi till I get to a pressure the thickness of the metal likes. The high pressure will take out the big ones but tends to push waves around the lower pressure will smooth everything out.

Wire wheel on a bench grinder. Spray the piece with wd40 first it helps cut and get an even finish. Even passes with it all the same direction full length of the piece. Re-do your stuff you're matching it to the same way. RFTH stuff doesn't need sanding.

Instead of anti tilt on the stake why not make an antitilt socket that fits into the vice? Then you can change out stakes quicker and you only have to make it once.
