Back when I'd only been fighting about a year or so, I was fighting a guy who had a greathelm with a faceplate that came out to a peak of several inches past his nose. In one exchange, I threw a combination ending in a back, just as he stepped in for a wrap. Which made it a back hand with my basket ...

Okay. I haven't taken an apprentice since my elevation, however... I don't intend to give belts or insist an apprentice wear one - it isn't the sort of thing that was done. I've spoken with some other peers about going another route - the display of the peer's badge on their person. As a Laurel, I'...

Re: Earlier 14thc surcottes - ongoing output
Someone wearing it.. ahem. It'll look more correct on the armoured man it's intended for: http://www.cottesimple.com/surcottes/mullet_surcotte_side.jpg Anyway, just wanted to share what I've been working on recently. Trying to make armoured folks look better, one surcotte at a time. More correct? M...

Re: Measuring impact power
Pieter van Dorn did work using an impact object of known weight (a bowling ball with no holes) placed at a known height on a simple wooden structure. Energy expended in sword blows was measured by distance the known weight traveled out from the stand. This is good engineering. ...and I am also led ...

*The Amazing Bartholemew! was a Ren Faire/Rendezvous circuit guy with the most entertaining magic act I've ever seen. The above was one of his standard lines, delivered usually as he was about to do something dangerous ... to someone else.

First - don't change it. But you will get asked occasionally. Word should spread though. If you got any local chivalry you're friendly with, they should be willing to help let folks know it's just a cool period belt. Out of curiosity, would a silver plaque belt trigger the white belt thought? While ...

A few years back, Sir Usted and I met in the finals of a small tourney in the Shire of Cuil Collum. We'd agreed to fight best 2 out of 3 bouts. The first bout was sword and shield. That bout lasted almost 35 minutes, and I swear there were no pauses longer than 3 or 4 heartbeats. We were both trying...

I've actually been trying to get enough ahead (less behind?) to pay for a banner ad. I only do sales once or twice a year, and other wise I try to let folks know where I'm going to be. I could see the usefulness of having something between 'paying advertiser' and 'free-loading semi-business post-who...
