Re: Shaved Rattan Sale!

I wish I did. The quality on the last batch was not what I wanted. Half of it I downgraded into the regular rattan pile. The importer is working with his people overseas to address this.

Re: Shaved Rattan Sale!

Is this legal for youth combat? What age range is using rattan cores at this point? These sticks are over 1", but less than 1.25". This would too thick for single-handed youth weapons. It is legal for 2-handed weapons. My understanding is Div II & III use rattan cored foam weapons. (Do I need to re...

Re: 2" Mandrake tips suck and you all know it

I think its Munition Grade Arms that sells a 'solid' kit (its a 'solid' piece of compressible black foam.) I think they are the way to go now. I stock up on his single sword pieces at each war I go to. If I fought spear Id go with his foam and the but cap piece he sells to mount the spear tips on. ...

Re: Does anyone else do Jack Chains?

Don't worry about me, I just had to shell out $250 to replace the battery in my car. Whoever heard of a battery you can't see (well barely) that you have to jack up the car, remove the front right wheel, and pull the battery out through the wheel-well? The engineer who came up with that idea must h...

Re: Shaved Rattan Sale!

By and large, ordering more reduces the 'per stick' cost of shipping. To New York isn't too bad, though. Shipping out to or past the Rockies is worse.

Re: Tips to Surviving a Landed Baronage

Take a lesson from Bull Durham : Practice your cliches. For Court. Think out what you wish to say to each person ahead of time. Not necessarily a memorized speech, but don't 'wing it' either. Think about the staging of court, too. Court is a kind of theatre. You want to keep it moving and interestin...

Shaved Rattan Sale! (over, thank you)

I have a bunch of 1.25" shaved rattan that is actually *just* under that 1.25". Too much of it really. So, what does a merchant do when he has too much of something? He puts it on sale, of course! So, sword lengths of slightly skinny (but within taping of legal) 1.25" dia. shaved rattan are now $5 e...

So I have the viking sword hardware from fox knife. I would like a better way to mount it. Any suggestions? I was thinking of welding two bars to connect the cross guard to the pommel. 'Knowing what an iffy one feels like' isn't a good, foolproof way to inspect a weapon. How do I know that the inspecting marshal knows what an iffy spear tip feels like? You do realize how much of the inspection process is experience based, don't you? There are no quantifiers for 'compressive give'...

Re: 2" Mandrake tips suck and you all know it

My pure speculation here: The conditions are described as wet. Wet rubber is a whole lot slicker than dry. I'm guessing that slickness, plus the normal amount of deformation, allowed the end of the rubber tip to 'pop' thru. The other part of the 'guess' is some additional movement on the target guy ...

Is there a way to check the foam discs without removing the entire tip? I suspect that there is not, in which case that is a problem (the severity of that problem is up to individual interpretation). I would have them checked before letting anyone use them. The most common issue is simply the foam inserts degrading, which is an easy fix.
