Tabling a shield is when it's closer to laying horizontal than it is vertical. Commonly happens when blocking higher, because the elbow lifts. It leaves your leg and body totally exposed.
This is a generic definition. I haven't take time to watch your vids yet.

A not unreasonable step. Given time, I think they will get more comfortable that the shaped weapons particularly are just as safe as the more usual ones. With any of our toys, the wielder is the most important part of the safety.
