Re: Testing interest level - Shaped Rattan Polearms
Would these need padding or am I correct in assuming all they require is a thrusting tip and some tape? SCA base rules: no padding needed. But, like Irish sez, check with your local marshals to be sure. Are you going to black stone. I have needs. Preferably in 7.5 and both shapes. If you could to i...

Ti Aventail $250 - Sold
The Master Knuut aventail I have is too narrow to fit onto my as it turns out. The upper 'tube' part is 27" in circumference. I got this as part of a bulk order (via Duke Brannos) a few years ago. These go for $400 currently. I've never used it and didn't discover it wouldn't fit until Galen tried t...

And the better quality of foam you use, both for spear and magic helm, the less often you need to replace it.

I'd suggest that real Leathernecks (U.S. Marines) are usually bullnecked enough that they may not need a gorget at all.

Switched to Square last fall. The only issue I've had was this past weekend. The ValDay site is a giant Faraday cage, but the door was nearby so I just took a moment outside for the card to run. Last I compared, the rates were better than Paypal or Propay (my previous service)

Yup. As far as Johannes could find out, the original 'problem' was just that the foam disks needed replaced.
In other words, the maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.

Talk with your higher up Kingdom Marshals. I think the pellets were meant as a temporary measure.
In my opinion, and in Sir Johannes' when I last talked to him, an ill-conceived and poorly implemented one at that.

not really. I had a second job at a pipe store for a few years. I've got about a dozen clays yet. Not to mention the 20-30 briars, 4 Meerschaums....
And the daughter gave me about a pound of English blends for Christmas.

I have a few, including these styles. I need to find opportunities to be able to just sit & enjoy them more.
One clay I'd had for 12-13 years and had gotten it to a warm chocolate brown color ... before it got broken in transport home from Pennsic one year.

I was 5'7" and 125 lbs when I started fighting (at 19yo). As has been said before : heart, good technique, good armor. As for melee success : don't be the lone guy. Good groups kill more than their number, by working together. A small sword&shield guy working with a spear guy can be devastating toge...

Are you trying to learn how to do it to your opponents? or to stop 'accepting' the invites they leave for you? In both cases, to me anyway, it's a matter of pattern recognition. "Hey! Several time when I've thrown X shot at his Y opening, he hits me!" You can test this by starting a shot into the su...
