At a guess, trying to swing the pendulum toward more medieval activities. A worthy goal, but I doubt that equestrian activities are possible with the current situation.

At this point, I would say it is highly unlikely. There were several bad experiences with horses at pennsic in the 80's and, as I understand it, the Coopers won't even discuss it.

I'm using a type 10 currently for weekly practice. The type 15 (short) lasted about 9 months, and just needs new leather edging to probably get another 5-6 months. 'Normal' round sticks generally last me a year to year & a half.

They are switching to using a 1"(or less) rattan core instead of a PVC pipe core. The padding specs are otherwise unchanged. And this is being adopted at the Society level.

The one above is the the first and only one we've made so far. I'll get with Dyderich shortly and get a few more started. We've decided that he needs to come over and pick the sticks out that will work best rather than me trying to guess.
