Historically, Pennsic tape colors were red for Middle & allies, blue for East & allies.

This year the tape colors are purple for East & Mid, green for Athelmarc, Atlantia, et al.

Thug Sticks are poles that are ~1.75" - 2" thick. Boom Sticks are ~2"-2.5" thick.

I think you'll find that it will wind up being a wash, if anyone local carries it at all. Your best bet for a local source would be a furniture store that deals mainly in rattan furniture and is owned by an immigrant from Malaysia, Indonesia or the Philippines. They sometimes keep raw rattan in back...

I've worn it in 90F temps to fight, it really did not seem any warmer than the linen tunic/kidney belt/tshirt combo I normally wear.
