Women are more likely to empty the clip into the poor, deserving mother****** and then go look for more bullets, even if the burglar has already bled out.

That's my girlfriend. She's little, but she's mean.

It was Sir Artos; I never did hear the exact reason for the ban. I'll ask Sir Shaltar about it next time I see him. My new mace (the on...

It does seem strange that there's no Bridge Battle as such, although the Castle Battle includes three bridges. Archery in the Woods Battle sounds like a lot of lost arrows to me.

Immediately following the Castle Battle is the Allied Battle. What is that exactly?

I'll just be happy to be there.

I have, in a bridge battle, using two swords, charged in alone, taken out two enemy spearmen simultaneously and gotten back alive to my own line. Once. Every other time, I just get repeatedly killed. Coat of Plates: My Two Cents' Worth

Actually, about fifty cents so far. I just made a very simple coat of plates: the "St. Maurice" design, essentially a tabard combined with a girdle, with plates riveted into the girdle. I used two layers of sturdy canvas, standard nail plates, and 6d nails for rivets. I used #6 washers on the nails,...

Robyn -- I know you can take care of yourself, but it's good to have friends too. Also, big battles like you have at Pennsic are a great place to work with a unit of three or more fighters; say, two shields and a spear, or something else that combines different specialties.

Linen (or a linen blend) should work fine. I think the cross would usually be sewn on as an applique, though embroidery would look great.

An essential difference, then, at least when it comes to fighting, is that in the SCA any experience you gain as a fighter is just that, actual experience...

Draco, if you're planning to get riveted mail in the future, the good news about that is that riveted is typically lighter than butted. This is because, with the rings riveted shut, you can use thinner wire.
