The Mongol set, right? No, I am sorry to say I have made no progress on them. I hope to carve them some day but I don't know when I will get to back on that project.

Hi Sir Fynn. Hey I'm a Pittsburgher too (well, since November 2003). I'm sorry we have not met yet---I'm still getting accquainted with the local SCA crowd. I'll make it a point to look you up at Pennsic. Are you camping? I have done a lot of research on scale and do not believe there are any source...

Well, it is a cool freaking helmet and as such, if I had it I'd just go for a cool fantasy harness---but strongly historically inspired! And I'd definitely consider something based around a lamellar or scale armor. For the soft kit and details, I'd go for Migration Era which to me means a tunic, tro...

I love that helmet by Joe Piela! I always wanted it. As far as I know, it's a fantasy helmet since no historical Norse helmets are known to have had faces like this. It is not too far removed from the Slavick face helmets you see in the eraly medieval period, IMHO.

Klaus, I'll scare up the info for you. They are from an obscure 1970'a era Arms and Armor Annual; an article on an Italian Knight from the 1340's (?). Feel free to bug me if I forget...

:)

So your question is whether the studded belt will hang differently than a plain belt? I'd say so. Putting many cast plaques on a belt like this makes it considerably more heavy than an unadorned belt. The belt almost becomes a weapon! I have not made a version of that Birka belt yet, but I have seve...

Actually there is no "set" per se since there are many ways to configure a belt from these parts. For anybody that wants "a set" of the d'Trumpington fittings, let me know how many eyelets and how many bar mounts/stiffeners. These things vary per each individual belt. Some folks put eyelets all the ...
