Glad you are back! I have been rather frustrated with your website---a GREAT many items say out-of-stock and don't even list a price. What's the problem?

Since that RenFair probably has no authenticity rules for its paying guests (none of them seem to), this guy is not an issue for them. He is not disobeying any rules by wearing pink plastic armor. So why don't you drop it right there? You are being foolish. HOWEVER--- show us somebody dressed in thi...

Correct me if I am wrong but the entire point of having aluminum shields is to lighten the weight of the shield compared to say, 5ply plywood, isnt it??? (and they are indestructable). It makes sense, what you are saying. However, this being my first and only shield, I have nothing to use for compa...

Are your SURE that's plastic and not just paint? And is there any reason to think this guy is SCA or that he'd wear this on an SCA combat field? That would be a diffferent matter entirely. For the most part, when you attend a Renaissance Fest in the USA, you are entering a Renaissance themed costume...

Seeking Advice: A Mail Shirt for All Seasons

Actually for all eras...or at least from 1066 to 1470? I am picturing a long sleeve shirt of approx 8mm ID wedge-riveted mail, approx mid thigh length.

Is this too long for 1470's? Is it too short for 1066?

Thanks,
Tim

No problem, Dan---please do.

I may still have the actual pattern around---I published it once on the Archive a few years back. I'll check.

FS: SCA Heater Shield w/ Authentic Details

I am selling the shield I made when I first started SCA combat a few years ago. As it turns out, I quickly decided that I wanted to be a combat archer so the shield did not get used past my qualification with "sword & board." Hence it is "new" and unblemished, save for some paint flaking on the leat...

Well, as the body text of the post suggests, the shield IS aluminum. If Steve thought otherwise, I'd be willing to call off our deal.

Thanks to you all--this helps! Since women in Hussite armies might fight as part of the combined camp there would seem to be some provenance for women with weapons in combat, especially for the group's identity. However, it would still seem to me unlikely they would be experienced in doing anything ...

Hello. As to "women enlisted as soldiers"...there were not only the "regular" armies with the "regular baggage train" behind them. Think of the Hussites ands their "rolling forts". Dull Medieval Swords? Women with weapons? Help!!!

I an visiting a budding 15th cent. LH group with the prospect of joining them. They are great folks but brand spanking new to the idea of Medieval re-enactment. So, during the meeting, a number of bits of information were proferred---things I had some doubts about. I thought I'd throw a couple at yo...
