I am looking for somebody with the ability to do riveted maille to make some simple alterations to a riveted maille shirt (i.e. cut the sleeves off one shirt of riveted and attach them to lengthen the sleeves of an identical shirt, etc.).

Thanks,
Tim

The work was from 1583, but the person is from the 14th century, if I recall correctly. More important, the gear is the same as described in the articles cited above. This is the eq...

I am a big fan of the Crafy Celt jewelry and own a small fortune's worth of it. However, their stuff is only historically "flavored", not based directly on archeological finds as the Hoard stuff seems to be. Those torqes from Hoard are DEAD ON accurate to extant pieces!

Perhaps "Scots wearing the scrip over their haunches" means over the crotch, front and center like a sporran, as opposed to the typical manner of wearing the scrip slung against the hip. No further explanation of kilts or what not need be piggybacked on to a more simple explanation such as this (Occ...

Re: Authenticity of an SCA name

Do you think that the name Spybeak is an authentic medieval last name? The reason I am even thinking of using it is because it's an anagram of my real name. The full name is Jerome T Spybeak. I'm thinking the name would be Spybeak beacuse my theoretical great-grandfather was a spy and had a long no...

In my opinion, the Midi Pavilion from Tentsmiths is an ideal size for one person. Tentsmiths make a great product but they can be rather disorganized and difficult to deal with. Four folks from my group (including me) all bought custom round or oval tents from them and each of us experienced many problems, omissions and errors in our orders. IIRC two of us had to ship the tents b...

I don't understand this DISCONNECT between what folks say they are portraying and the gear they are wearing. I submit to you that if you are wearing the harness of a 13th century French man-at-arms---THEN THAT"S WHAT THE @#$% YOU ARE! You are NOT an 8th century Irish soldier or whatever. Face it and...

Unless you have just dismounted to fight, I presume, as some sorts of troops did (i.e. mounted crossbowman). Isn't this so, or am I misinformed?
