That's sure to be a pleaser! Any chance of offering a hard black finish? The "Chrome" just...seems...a little...hmmm.

Again, superb work!

Some rapier belts had a center clasp that forms the proper angle at the front of the waist. This allows the belt to follow that angle.

Had a FedEx package stolen off my porch once. It contained 3 empty shampoo bottles, sent to me because I am a packaging designer. Imagine the thief who was chancing a felony charge and got something so worthless!

Darmour, No offense but I'm not sure the folks here in the U.S. that make SCA combat crossbows would appreciate somebody like me handing you their designs on a "silver plate" so that their products can be made cheaper overseas. With respect, I cannot offer any further information. However, the infor...

These look interesting but they are not configured to be SCA combat bows, to the best of my knowledge. For SCA they pretty much need a golf-tube sized groove instead of an arrowshaft sized groove. They also need a clip that holds the back end of a golf tube, and the string height needs to be set so ...

Yeah, this is average quality tourist souvenir type stuff. IMHO quite possibly of pot-metal and naugahyde. If you want something like this, approach Armstreet (they have exotic repros all the time on e-bay, searchwords: SCA Armor). I think Armstreet would do a much nicer job.

Hardwood "scraps" Needed for Dagger Hilt

I am planning to make a dagger hilt to match the one in an illumination. I am looking for a small scrap of hardwood that is appropriate for Medieval Europe, and is a light color (yellowish tan if possible). Anybody got anything laying around? I need enough to make 2 "scales" of approx. 1/2" thick by...

There is evidence of Egyptian (1200-800 bce?) and Scythian (600-400 bce?) scale* armour of leather. Note that some Scythian scale armours resemble lamellar on a visual level---yet not on a construction level.

Cheers,
Tim

Wow, go back and look at Wombat's stuff, then Ugo's. Take a really good look. Then I task you to write up a 100 word appology to Ugo.

IMHO the name Ugo and Wombat do not belong in the same discussion. Period.

In a conversation at the recent Pennsic War, either Jeff or Gwen (of HE) pointed out to me that the plaque belts might not have been as heavy as we assume. That they were (probably) not solid cast "diving belt weights" as sometimes the modern reproductons are. Something to consider, eh? That being s...

IMHO, making a horn reinforced jack would be a great project if you wanted plastic but also wanted to hide it! I have always thought the hexagonal scale pattern might be suitable for such a project. It would sound and feel like horn but it would be cheaper and easier to work than horn---though a REA...
