"Space wasters" you say? By what measure? Do you mean ground space? A whole bunch of people could sleep at the floor level of a 10' x 14' tent and be sheltered from foul weather. And was ground space in short supply a thousand years ago? Do you mean storage space? A 10' x 14' tent canvas, ropes and ...

My response: 1. Midwest does offer a couple of loop set-ups for various pole arrangements Viking/Norman Wedge Tent ...white tents are available with inside straps or outside straps. Inside straps are for if you use side poles instead of spikes and they require some minor sew-tacking to your pole siz...

Best price on a viking tent + good quality. I have seen one myself and several folks here on the Archive own one. Why sew it yourself when you can buy one at this kind of price?

Well, something like white 0.75" to 1" diam PVC would be fairly cheap to experiment with. I think it might be able to take a bend like that over 12 feet of span. And, I could always consider making a bending jig/template and seeing if I could heat it into permanent obedience with a heat gun. I estim...

Making a Yurt-like "Alachigh" N. Iranian Tent?
Yeah, I am "tent-crazy". I love historical tents and have owned 7-8 of them over the years. At present I only have one, a Midwest Tents 8.5' diameter high medieval round pavilion (approx 10-11' diam at the base). But I have been searching for a solution to tentage for Pennsic and my budding Scythian...

Thanks for the ideas and comments. The hoop would be subject to a significant amount of weight and stress and I have strong doubts a bungee-strung fiberglass hoop could perform the task, but I admit I only know this system from small nylon tents and am not familiar how well it "scales up". A metal c...

Hoops for Round Tents
Okay, Pennsic is over and I am trouble shooting my equipment. What works as is? What should be sold off and a different one bought? What should be fixed or modified for better performance? My thoughts come to my 10' diam base round pavilion from Midwest Tents. The one I got for $255 shipped! It has ...

Torvaldr, How much for loose leather scales, heater shaped, dyed red, hardened and waxed (like the scales on that coat of scale you show above)? Also, please tell me what size those scales are (dimensions: i.e width, length, approx thickness). And finally, what are the options for holes? Thanks, Tim
