Product Review: Hal’s Armor Stakes

Hello, We’ve all come to recognize that Hal is a fine purveyor of newbie armor tool kits. About a month ago Hal offered up an auction for a horizontal stake made from welded pipe components. I requested a custom stake of similar design (one curve up for flared edges and one down for tighter curves...

Price Check: Pexto Stake Plate

Hello all,

Simple question. I may have found an old Pexto Stake Plate for sale. I'm curious what the going rate is for one so I have a rough idea what to personally budget.

Thanks, Sean

Re: a stump idea I had.

My first question was how deep a section of log had to be to be effective and not bust. Since we're hitting on the end grain, something too thin would likely crack. But what about a section of wood that was maybe 6 inches thick? it would be easy to move, just set it up on a sturdy bench for use. pr...

I'll echo the 3 footed option but I did something different. My stump (which I have come to realize was a soft wood and is in need of replacement after 3 years) was not only not flat but the top and bottom wern't close to parallel. I places the flatest side on the floor. I took a random piece of 2x1...

The obvious answer is "It all depends". Mostly it depends on the shape. If you size and shape the leather based on a authentic period type suit it will move like a period type suit. If you size and shape it like sport equipment then it will move like sport equipment... Now the original wearers of ar...

That's an amusing use for rail-road stakes. Given a source for old stakes (like where they are replacing the track and ties) and a simple pipe with a means to cut it you could knock out a lot of those quite cheeply... but I imagine that the possilsing (edit: polishing) is the time consuing part.
