Re: Any extant examples of mail like this?
It could be broken as well. He looks as if he's injured and if you notice on his right arm, the mail does cling to the sleeve. Could be. The maile might also be resting on the shoulder of the man carrying him so it doesn't droop free like the other side. unfortunately I am not aware of any partial ...

Nice. You might want to consider a leather washer over the drill-bit so when you break-through you don't score the surface with the chuck.

Pretty Legit. The rediscovery and re-printing involves Dr. Pierre Terjanian, curator of the Met. Tom B. put together a group order to save on shipping to the US. I think he got the last few copies. Sorry that you missed the notice. Here is the link, lots of nice pictures included: http://forums.armo...

AH HA! Just like everything is found in the last place you look. I found the Effigy of Philip the Bold in one of Gallerons posts. http://burgundianhours.blogspot.com/2008/07/burgundian-armour-collection.html Does anyone have any pictures of the outside of this helmet and not just the inside? Hey all, I've been using every search term or combination of search terms I can think of but I'm not getting the images I remember and since my memory is always suspect I figured I'd ask here for help. Thanks for all the pictures! Also, I just remembered a question I had forgotten to ask, and one which may change things quite a bit. See, the character that I'm going to draw isn't human. She's a member of a race that evolved from marsupials, and in the game, one of the racial features is that fema...

Negroli did a lot of fantastic stuff but he had contemporaries doing very good work as well. I think there is an associate breastplate for that helmet but I don't have a link. Try different search terms. "Negroli Parade Armor" (or Armour) may get better results. Also, you might look into some versio...

Re: SCA sword/dagger scabbard designs
The problem with scabards in the SCA is bulky tips. If you can make a decent low-profile tip you can make a leather sheath (Sir Vitus makes some beautiful ones IMHO) but if the tip is oversized they suck. The chape is the trickiest part. Someone once got a chain-link fence fineal that was the right ...

A proper anneal wants to glow orange or at least into the dull red but below that will get some benefit. The best tool for small stuff is a Propane torch or MAPP torch and a few bricks. Sixth....Decorate and finish. Never decorate until the shape is right. Mac I really liked that list but I did want to point something out. You can mess up well shaped armor with bad decoration. I think you may be out of luck. As I understand it a celata is a diminutive celat (sallet). If you want a visor for a celeta you go up to a full sallet, bascinet or grand bascinet. It's like looking for an economy car that can fit a sheet of plywood in the trunk. To get what you want you upgrade to ...

I have a very simple hand made frame saw and use it regularly for all kinds of stuff. You can make it from maple but mine is made from cheap pine. Works like a charm. Nice. Glad I'm not the only one who designs everything in CAD first. :) I'm going to echo Schreiber about diagonal bracing. It's a good plan, especially if you have something heavy on top.
