Heh, that's really not worth 2000 in my opinion.

Never the less it's not something I would be wearing for SCA fighting. =)

Japanese dou (breastplate/backplate)

A few months ago somoeone was making and selling a very nice okegawa dou, just the breastplate and backplate, it was very nicely done, and very simple. I think the person who made them may have started with an H (Halberds?) If anyone knows can you please point me in the right direction. I'm trying t...

Pedro, I don't know how long you have been making armour, but you make some of THE BEST gothic armour I have seen. Your lines are crisp, clean, and your stuff just looks like it is meant to be armour, not stuck on a stand. I really hope you continue work of this caliber. Gah, you ALMOST make me want...

About all that would be needed is maybe 8-10" of railroad track as an anvil.

Mykaru,

But never forget, you make great looking, and very accurate armour. To hell with the junk. I KNOW when my kit is done and when I step onto the field, people are going to stop and look and simply say WOW.

Fritz, That's a HUGE question. You are talking about what is perhaps the most turbulent period in armour making in history. This is the prime time of chain armour as the primary protection falling out of favour, being supplanted by Coat of Plates, making way into the Transitional Period where white ...

My new Oaks Armoury stuff is nearing completion! Hopefully Sasuke won't mind me posting some early images.

Remember people, they still are not done yet...

I could be wrong, but I don t think that is a tatami kabuto. Tatami kabuto's are very simple kabutos made made of plates that were rectangular or hexagonal, and sewn onto cloth or joined by mail and were typically worn by ashigaru. There were also tatami-do as well. If I remeber correctly that is a ...

For those interested...

I was in contact with Nobel Plastics today.

Kozane should be shipping after the first of the year!

I'm very much looking forward to doing up a nice set of armour with this stuff...

I just don't know how well it will go with a Zunari kabuto... =)

As for my titles, I have nothing you won't already have. Most of my stuff is geared to newbies and those just starting to learn about Japanese armour and weapons.

Mykaru,

Can you get me a copy? I don't need it translated, as my Japanese skills are slowly improving. Still cannot speak it to save my life! I'm really big on the Ashigaru stuff and only have the Osprey books on the ashigaru(cannot find much else).

I've sent you an email about the kote.

My first SCA kit was an okegawa dou that I used a brush on laquer on it. It did not hold up very well at all to SCA combat. It tended to crack and then flake after every practice or event. I moved to powder coating with a gloss paint and it looks good and is hundreds of times more durable. Mind you ...
