If you allow head shots, how the heck do you fight without a bar grill? Especially with pre-mid 15th century armour? Espeially considering most soldiers had kettle on when fighting... You seem to like to pass a lot of judgements on SCA fighting yet you admin to have not participated in any... If you...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they didn't hit there, one look at the Wisby graves proves otherwise... I've still not seen any org. that allows the sytle and realative free-form fighting that the SCA allows... The aventail is a temporary one at best. I'm saving the cash to pick up one from Forth...

From my understanding, lower leg strikes in armoured combat were not really used because it opened the person striking too much. I think I read about that in some 15th century swordsmanship book... Never the less, I would rather be fighting this way than not being alowed to do head shots, face thrus...

Well see, in the SCA we kinda need them to keep our faces from getting beat in. I've not found any other organization that allows the free form, full speed, full contact fighting... till then, I'll fight SCA and follow it's rules... Looking for a decent pourpoint/arming coat

While I have one in the works it's going to be a while before it is done, so I'm in the need of a late 14th century early 15th Century pourpoint/arming coat. I would like it to be light, but slightly padded, full sleeves, collar and done in red. It should be made of fairly durable materials as I pla...

Isn't there a full hauberk in the Wallace Collection that weighs in at 17 lbs? Chain armour, even with the advent of bodkins, was VERY effective. Anyone who tells you otherwise, knows very little about armour. Chain armour existed in some way shape or form for MORE than 1000 years. It lasted that lo...

Steven,

If I'm not mistaken they are a offshoot of the SCA and many of them still participate with the SCA in some events. I will be heading down to an event with these fine folks in mid-September with some of the friends I've made in the SCA who also participate with these folks.
