Firstly, the Japanese never used bamboo in armour. They used iron, steel, rawhide and silk. Japanese armour was very effective for what it was designed to do. Was it any better than European armour? Who the heck will ever be able to know. They were made in two different societies, for different reas...

I'm glad to see other people trying (and in this case very much succeeding), to make gauntlets as close to historic gaunts as possible...

My refit gauntlets back from Sasuke (Oaks Armoury)

Today I got my gauntlets back from Sasuke. He was kind enough to replace the knuckles on em after I blew them off as well as refit them with full finger tips. We also made some other minor modifications to his original Mk. 1 design... Without further ado: Here they are, a nice overall shot: [img]htt...

Very VERY nice.

My gauntlets will be here on Monday, I'll be sure to post images of the new gauntlets. I cannot wait to have them back. It's amazing to see how well Sasuke's work has progressed over the past couple of years.

I cannot wait to have him do more armour for me.

Pardon my lack of photographic skills... If you look close enough, you can see the dent the King of the East left during Viking Raids II... Front view, be aware it's hitting my bike's seat so it looks crooked, but it's not. It's also a bit dirty. I use this armour regularly so it does get a bit beat...
