You know, I should get a chest for all my kit, currently it's in two large bags, and a pillow case for my helm...

Message for CLANG
Clang, I sent out the balance due on my arm armour on Wednsday of last week. It went out priority mail. Hopefully you have it by now. My home email (in fact my home internet connection) is currently off line due to my move, till ComCast shows up and reconnects me, which should be later this week. I ...

) My frustration lies in a rule set (I think we can all agree that the rules are slightly less than idea in the current environment) that will even allow the discussion that "Well, if this historically accurate helmet design does what it was intended to do (ie c...

Gutter greaves vs full greaves...
As my kit nears completion, I had a couple of questions... I know people who do a lot of SCA style combat have issues with full greaves. How common in the very late 14th century (1390's) were gutter greaves? In the late 14th century did the demigreaves have the "button holes" for the rest of the gre...

Geesh, I did not mean for this to develop into something like this. I've never fought in a kettle helm before, mostly just bascinets and great helms, so I'm still learning. I'm not trying to offend anyone, or like some people seem to be implying try to "cheat" or soil my honour. I maybe rather new t...

RomeBuff I was in the 'Rocks when we were in the mills in downtown Fall River. I would guess from 1994 to 1996 or so. You guys all called me "babyface" as I was the only one who did not have a beard of some type. I went to Fall River a lot with Ian McPhearson (John something or other don't remember ...

Woodsende, think the issue with the brimmed helmet would be the angle of the blow. If it is moving towards you in such a fashion that it would have travelled into the head (or body) if not impeded by the brim, ten it is good That is more or less how I tell...

Ulrich, You make a good point, but the last thing I want to do is make "enemies". I'm working hard to be a good fighter, and I still have a LOT to learn, especially being out of it for more than 5 years (luckily I started with Master Padraig down in Smoking Rocks so I did have a good start). My loca...

You go ahead and enforce the rules of the list. That's your job and I was asking for a clarification of my interpretation of the rules of the list as I could find no clarification on this in either the Marshall's Handbook nor the standard rules of the list for either the SCA or the East Kingdom. BTW...

The brim of my helm is not my head, nor any other part of my body... I may just be iterpreting the East Kingdom rules improperly, but if I were to treat my helm as if it were a skull cap or "an open faced iron helm with nasal" a shot that hits my brim would normally hit nothing but air, a shot that ...

Bill, Yes I will be there. My CLANG arms are on the way to me, so I will be in full steel late 14th century kit. I will have my WMA kettle on, depending on the weather my Oak's Armoury corrazina and my Mad Matt's Churburg #15 breastplate & fauld. Not to mention my Flonzy Made pourpoint, Oaks armoury...

No, Samuel you are not quite right. I fight in WMA's first kettle. A brim shot is not a killing blow as it did not hit your head, or any other part of your body... Ewan, the way I call them is by the sound it makes when hit. I good hit to the bowl will not ring all that much, but a brim shot will ha...

Go check out James River Armoury,
Eric makes a DAMN fine set that I myself wear. In fact I think he has some up on eBay now.

They are not stainless, but are still quite good.
