Holy poop! It's even better than mine! I really like the brass rivits around the rim of the bowl!

And yes those are recent photos. Last night we got about 6" of snow. On Friday we got about 4". (WMA is only about 30 miles from me)

Yet another one from WMA PR... I've seen Marla's work up close and personal (Adam's other garb & arming coat) as well as the green fencing doublet listed here. It's TOP notch stuff. I mean VERY good. If Flonzy wasn't making my pourpoint, I would be bringing WMA a check for this tomorrow during our e...

Why the sugarloaf and the bascinet?

Did they wear the 'loaf on top of the bascinet like the early skull cap types?

In detail... It's a nicely formed helm. The shape is good, the weldings on the outside are really not visible at all. It does need a good polish however, as it's well used. It's NOT dented, just used, there are a few tape marks, some light paint that I mostly removed. A good run over with a polish w...

I've worn the bascinet WMA is talking about quite a few times till I got WMA's kettlehelm. I don't know how old the helm is, so his designs may have changed. The shape is OK. It's not very period, as it does not flare out at the bottom, but it's not a simple can either. I would call it in the middle...

Red Dragon Armouries Bascinet for Sale.

Tonight I will be posting some images of a Red Dragon Armouries Bascinet. It is for a larger head (it fits me fine). It comes with both a hundskull and barred visor that are removable. Side hinges and pivots. There are some holes for verivilles (I will finish drilling the rest), but only cotter pins...

Not crazy at all.

Buying swords in Japan is a very specialized thing.

Use of the word sword in Japan will get you more or less ignored by most people in the know.

What kind of sword did he want?

Nihon-to?
Iaido?
Shin-ken?

Lots of different types of swords, lots of different places to get swords.

I'm with you on this one. Gorgets are evil. I have three, none of which is perfect. I'm currently using my James River Armoury brig gorget, but damn do I get nasty armour bites from it around the base of my neck. The Oaks Armoury one I have is simply WAY too big to fight in so I don't even bother. I...

Thanks for the suggestions Thaddeus. I just got some 1/2" belt leather from Tandy, and will do that as I have all the buckles and stuff to do it. Broadway,

I like that idea, I tend to wear my armour tight out of habit (loose kendo armour is a BAD thing). As I have practice again this weekend, I will give it a go and see how it works out.

As most of you know, I've been trying to get as close to an accurate late 14th century kit as I possibly can. Janos, I was going to get some images last night, but since the gorget is too big, I figured I would work on that first before doing any images. Not to mention my arms are still in process via CLANG.
