Then why do so many people insist that plastic is the only viable material? This is what has been said by a lot of people on a lot of threads. If it is not the durability, what is? Firstly, I was very lucky when I did up my armour, I was able to find some...

Review: Forth Armour Chain Haubergeon
WOOT! It's been a damn fine couple of weeks for my armour. Most of it has been arriving over the past week, and this will continue right up to April if all goes well. For now, I give you this review. A Forth Armoury rivetted mail haubergeon. It came via UPS today, in a little package, I kid you not,...

As far as I have gathered, one of the major knocks on constructing Japanese armour out of authentic materials is that it does not endure the stress of SCA combat. This is wrong. Most Japanese armour, especially from 1450 on was quite good, especially beca...

I'm not sure yet. I still need to fight in it more. Mostly the brim shots are just that, the brim. Sometimes the brim shots I've taken do hit my shoulder and I do take those without question. I started with the whole, if the helm rings its a good shot, but as time goes on I may change. It all depend...

What I should have shown is someone wearing hockey pads... My whole point is that some people have the whole view against the Japanese persona yet are willing to accept people wearing hockey pads with a tabard over the top... That is where I have a problem. How "traditional" would it be for an 9th c...

Ok, here is the question... What would you rather see on the feild? This: or this: From my limited experience with other Japanese personas, most of us go much further in completing a more tradit...

Having a Wife who is a sport trainer and a personal trainer helps me out here a lot. Before anything I hit the bike or run for at least 10 minutes and do 10 minutes of streching. I lift three times a week. Monday, Wendsday and Fridays. I have an alternating schedule. The first workout of the week I ...

I've always started with the shoulders and worked my way down... I more or less start with a H shape with two cross bars (head hole) and fill in the area to better fit my neck and head. Then I fill in the areas of the torso as needed (using both expansion and contraction areas to fit well). After th...

Richard, Actually I got most of the kit done, I still need to make a manchira that will have a layer of 6-in-1 japanese style chain over it to cover my armpits and areas not covered by the dou, especially my shoulders and upper sternum. I also just need to get some simple elbows to wear under the tr...

Review: Mykaru's Zunari Kabuto (SCA Legal)
I've spent the past few days lacing my new Zunari Kabuto made by Mykaru. It's very important to note that this kabuto is list legal (or should be once approved). I'm shooting for a mid 16th century ashigaru kashira (think a mid level officer in charge of cannon fodder) for my persona First, lets sta...
