Yep, use the Roman stuff (hamata). A couple of folks make it in half punched. m carries it in 8mm and 6mm ring size. I can't find any info on their reputation. Has anyone ordered from them? For an extra 100 I would rather order from Ice, then I know the quality of product and service I am getting. ...

It should be pretty close to a hauberk for the kit your using. Soak it in vinegar overnight if its galv, that'll strip it right off however galvy maille tends to be weak as butter so dont be surprised if it doesnt hold up well to combat. Thanks ES, I didn't know that. I'll just trim the sleeves. Ho...

Yep, I'm one of the ones who picked up the high medieval leather boot/shoes. They look nice and will be a perfect complement to my soft and hard kit. Gotta admit though I really like the gothic shoes they offer. SOmeday when I get a 15th century hard kit together, I'll pick a pair of the curved blac...

Oh damn I totally forgot to post that I do have a haubergeon. Its flat wire, riveted. Decent, but not perfect, as its galvanized as best as I can tell. I do have to do some trimming on the arms and overall length as its is closer to a hauberk than haubergeon right now. The fans on both the arms and ...

My new helm is almost done (Wild Armoury)
While I very much like my early bascient that Maxim made for me, I wanted something a bit later to match the rest of my kit. So he is doing this for me: [img]http://h...

It can be done. There were several documented instances of a kabuto being built to resemble european helms.

Luthod, Yes, Joe Walters is (was) an amazing bladesmith (he isn't making blades any more to the best of my knowledge). His ability to heat treat and polish is stunning. The yari blade even looks like its a san mai style steel, but its not. His blades rate right up there with Howard Clark, Engath and...

Two hand made Japanese blades for trade... UPDATED: Pictures
I need more armour. Another set of 14th century finger gauntlets, and perhaps a nice helm... For trade I have two HAND MADE japanese blades. Both are made by Joe Walters formerly of Moonlit Forge. Both are of 1050 steel, custom shaped for me, and heat treated in the Japanese style. Full hamon and fu...

Hal, Do I need to comment on this! YES I DO! lol. I laughed so hard. What better way for a woman to learn to make armor by likening it to cooking. of course I don't know which one I do better. Cook or make armor. I'd say cooking for right now, at least I make some mean japanese curry! Thanks Hal. I...

Yep, I had a full set of Sasuke armour in stainless steel. 14th century arms, legs, cased greaves and full fingergauntlets that were SCA legal without finger bucklers. Fantastic kit. I always kick myself when I talk about it... should have never sold it, as I'm spending just about as much money now ...
