just acrylic you can buy at any craft store
and then a acrylic varnish to finish off
some of those westies get a little fancier
but most of those guys out of the west maintain their armor pretty well
so durability isnt the main problem
availability of resources to repair and redo

@ maeryk the winter coat of the eurasian red squirrel will roughly make that shape and is theoretically what vair is based off of (i am sure someone else has better references than me that may prove it)
