As has been mentioned previously in the thread it has to do with damaging the rattan weapons and it is going to do more damage than the other parts of armor. You would have have a lot of trouble finding a martial to pass it for use on the field. If it managed to get on the field it's likely to be b...

I bet if you remove the combs you would sell that pretty fast. It's a fantastic helmet, just slightly illigal in SCA lists i dont see how this is illegal in the sca fear of the comb penetrating a helmet is a irrational fear that is not applied to other pieces of armor such as fans on elbow and knee...

Uses for ash

I have an incinerator i operate at work.
I burn animal carcasses (not pets) as i was disposing of the ash(and bone fragments)
I caught myself wondering about period uses for ash.
does anyone know of any uses for animal ash?
I cant imagine such a common product just being wasted?

it really is faster to make new swords and it is rare that i pick up someones sword and it feels right for me if you intend to fight regularly (at least 3 practices a month) you will be replacing your swords every couple months(at least) to be competitive but if you are only going to fight once ever...

Lamellar is also a pain in the butt to relace and repair; it is not lower in maintenance compared to a CoP or an armoured surcote. if you wear steel plates whether you hide them or not you can always change your mind in the future the plastic you have to hide all the time if you forget your surcoat and wear plastic=sloppy with steel anyone that sees you will recognize you are wearing armour i would go steel have fun zhigmun' p....

I have tried a 12 foot spear
and we just cant have them in atenveldt
they hit too hard
and we already throw pretty hard here
i am glad they are no longer in use
but they are easier to kill if you run them down
