Well I attended my first SCA meeting/fighter practice.

I wanted to see what it was like, mainly for heavy fighting and Archery. First I have to say that all the people there were very nice. Some more inclined to talk to you than others but it is understandable. Like you said, I imagine that they see lots of one time onlookers and they probably get frien...

SCA fighter practice...what am I looking for?

So tomorrow I will be attending my first SCA fighter practice, as a spectator of course. What am I looking for as far as good or bad things to give me an idea of the kind of group they have?

Wow! how can I not try it after all this. I will probably go tomorrow night to watch. I imagine that it also has to do with the mentallity of the group, a little like you have some good and bad martial art schools.

Thanks again for all the help.

Can you be too old to fight? (SCA)

I will go take a look at the local SCA and see if I like what I see. Of course there is much more than fighting but if I like what I see, as far as fighting is concerned, am I too old to start. Of course I am not that old, 35, but can you fight against 18 year olds and still walk the next day? I don...

You can try Abebooks.com also. I found many copies on there but pretty expensive. 75$ US was the cheapest.

Bookfinfer.com is another site for books.

Not the smaller model JS1600 I have but the JS3200 will cut 12ga SS. So since mine is rated 18 Ga ss and cuts 16 Ga you could cut 10 with the 3200 I asume.

Get a Makita power shear first. Less expensive and more useful. Then a Beverly later.

Anybody has a "shop press"?

The is a sale coming near where I live and they will be selling them. One 12 tons for $120 and 20 tons for $170. So here are my questions: 1) How useful is it to have? 2) What I am looking for as far as quality is concerned? 3) Is this a good price? Being, like many here, a tool whore, it looks inte...
