Maybe your setup was not ideal for sheetworking. I can turn 1,5mm mild steel of a nice orange with a stupid weed burner of 50mm diameter and some firebricks to back the metal, I get a darker orange/ reddish color on 2mm, is not a lot, but the metal is much softer than cold anyway. Venturi burner and...

When we talk of armour we can't talk simply of the piece of metal or leather or even plastic that make the outer shell, we must talk of the whole assembly. The first thing that come to my mind reading your story, it that (maybe, I can't know) your under armour clothing was not adequate to the situat...

Uhm nothing that you can't see on his online catalogue. m The swords in general have not a high level finish on them Hilt and pommels could be quite rough, hilts are hot forged and show it clearly. They are cheap and sturdy, usually properly balanced, they don't dent so easily and don't dent deeply....

It is, but it's understandable, there is a file PDF, that is called basic-armouring.pdf or something like that, that is absolutely free and legal to ask for, and give you a lot of starting tips. I understand it's not the level of TOMAR, but maybe will give you enough info to make some simple project...

Something makes me feel that JIRI is the most common name in Czech republic... as is MARIO for Italy, John for USA.... or only armourers and swordmakers are allowed to have this name?? just joking, I would really like to learn a bit of Czech language other than Dobra den, dobra noc, ahoi, pozor and ...

Jiri is right, there is a KKart seller (now it has another name) behind the astronomical clock square, and another one is near the castle in the higher part of the city. Bestarmour.com has a workshop in Prague, but he don't have a stock to sell on the fly I think. For sure there are some other, like...

It should be ok (but i'm far to be and expert). If I was in you, i would made such bascinet in just 2 pieces, and not 3 as it is in this pattern. As I understand most american armourer prefer the 3 piece construction, while here in europe, I've never seen one made in 3 pieces (except the one I've ma...

Is part of our history, so why look elsewhere? It's horrible and violent just like swordfighting, but most of us consider swordfighting a noble art... I think it's quite ridicolous, there is nothing noble in maiming and killing your opponent. If there are many rooms in the dungeon, it would be very ...

id call it a cheap medieval helm. possibly a few helms that were riveted togeather. maybe by an armourer, or maybe by someone who found a few helms with holes in them, and needed a helm bad enough to pull em apart and put em back togeather. i dont know. -patric You forget that 5 Kg of iron is reall...

Re: Crusader Helmet I Bought
Any ideas who made this? The seller hinted that it was made by an AA'er but I suspect it's an Indian import after looking at it (mostly because the the round top). Tim Both affirmation could be true,as the AA is today quite famous and for sure some Indian armourer know of it I think is quite nice f...
