They for sure received unexpected amount of orders for such book. I think they may have miscalculated the time to start to sell the book and the amount of book already printed.. or they could have started printing the book later than expected, i think it's a quite small publisher, so probably put ou...

Why not just anneal it and have it hardened after forming?
If you don't allow it to cool down in the open air, but maybe under hot sand, i think you can have it in a workable status.

This is for sure right, but how many manufacturer therewere?
How we can think that they produced identical stuff? Even if we talk of munition grade armour we must assume regional differences and shop preferences.
Those small differences are what that allow a serious student to identify pieces.

I think that most part of people that today wear armour, don't know what the hell they are carrying on their heads. Oh yes maybe they know it's name, and maybe the timeframe of such piece of armour, but their eyes can't see the details, or tiny (and big)differences that, to more trained eyes make tw...

I suggest you to add a flange on the cuff of the two pieces pattern and then rivet the cuff to the metacarpal, making a hourglass in a single piece is not a easy task, it will require hot forming and advanced techniques. Then you can hide the joining with a brass decoration at the wrist if you don't...

The two rivets at the top of the shoulder should be of the middle strap of leather that run along the whole piece, often the front is mounted on leather too, while the backside is on sliding o pivoting rivets.

I own a box of casenite, a metalworker gave it to me for free, and i used it some time. The chemical process involved allow to increase the carbon content of the outer thin (very thin) layer of metal of the object you intend to harden. This, combined with a heat treatment could give you a hard surfa...

I would extend a bit toward the middle of the kneecop the ridges of the wing, this could make it more rigid and avoid that metal find an easy line where it could bend out of place. The elbow should be deeper, maybe it's time for annealing it before you go on.

Usually car body hammers are considered too light for armoursmithing, but is a lot relative the meaning of "light". This by eye looks like on the light side, but could be ok for small refinement of shape, surely not for the rough shaping.

Seeing how a certain kind of harness is suited for a specific use could be very instructive, other than joust i think other kind of tournament combat could be instructive, for example halfswording and so on.

What do you think?
