Is always the same story, with that money i can't buy nothing useful, 50$ for me is the average (low) price of a book about armours, so we are in 2005.. what is the difference from a book and a DVD? Probably not so much. I can think that 100$ maybe on the high side (but if... you know what i can clo...

This is a huge work if taken seriously, i can't think it can be "developed" on a forum.. but more probably in a book, or a essay like you say. I suggest to find someone willing to spend a lot of time writing about a timeframe or a kind of suit, and then put all togheter and make an essay. Use the fo...

The relative high price of armour (high because as someone stated, you can live without it, so it's a luxury good) bring many of us to say "i can't afford one, i will make my own". Many gave up and bought some crap, Some turn out to be good armourers and got into business other learned that it was n...

So in other words you used a metal mass as a "roof" to catch the heat that raise from the fire.. if i understand well, you then putted the rectangle that you forge welded UNDER the metal roof? If this is what you have done, you could probably do the same with firebricks.. but how can we apply this t...

If you are familiar with leather working (patterning cutting and sewing) a brigandine can be in your reach, you can make it of relatively thin metal if it is not intended for particular kind of combat. Then you need to choose a "scheme" of the plates, if you go for bigger plate you have a coat of pl...

In a easier way to understand, i could say that for that money (100USD) you can buy 1 or 2 good books each year, or have access to much more information of high reliability. Yes, in the end of the year your shelf will be almost empty, but probably you can learn a lot more and in a easier way. I gave...

I think that any piece that is not a copy of an existing piece or a depicted piece may be considered speculative or interpretation or fantasy for someone (i don't agree with such vision, but many does). Personally i will accept a "fantasy" piece if it's style resemble the overall style of the armour...

Don't rush, rest and think, to be able to make a harness it will take you a LOT of trial and errors. Skill grow in years, and not days. If you want start jousting now, you can't think to do it in yuor armour, but if it's a future plan, then go. I did the same 4 years ago: i told myself that " i will...

Well, i know a bit about them, as i worked in a shop that sold them. So 1) you will go for one with oil, oilless compressor are not for heavy duty and don't last forever. 2) To know what compressor you need, you (should) check the tools that you use: Each tool have an indication of pressure and air ...

I use a powershear too, it's invaluable, i've chosen it instead of the nibbler mainly because i did'nt want to clean all the chips from the shops every time, but the nibbler is very useful as you can trim or cut piece of metal even if it's bent, while a shear cut only flat sheets. It's a hard choice...
