It will work, but probably you havo to repeat the process few times, and remember that wearing the maille will turn it "white" again soon or later.

Now that i remember i've seen a sort of metal goggles.. they are shaped like a "paratrooper" goggle, but the are made like fencing mask.. they are used by "softgunner" the guy who make fire combat simulations

If on the head only cuts are allowed you should never be able to put a blade into the eyeslot, especially if you fight at the proper distance from the opponent (i suppose this is the case.. you go to touch your opponent). A pair of goggles into the helm easily will limit your view, your breath soon ...

i use a short nail as rivet.. it is long 6mm.. too much for my purpose.. so i have to cut it after i have pushed it trough the ring.
The cutting part have a slot so it is useful to cut rings from the coil :lol:

I use HOT rolled for some reasons:
I find it near here
It's cheap
The black oxide can easily removed with HCl
The same Black oxide is a nice base for internal paint and is a good protection against rust itself :lol:

I never used a Beverly, but i love my power shear, it make noise only in some circumstances, otherwise it run trough metal like paper, my arms are not so strong and myhands not so big, but i can handle the powershear that weight 1.9 Kg with little problem, if you don't have to hold the sheet you can...

I use a pair of modified tongs, the tooth for punching the ring is shaped with a mini driller for hobby work with burrs.

Welcome to the big family of the shear owners :D :D you will be happy of it! Excuse me if i ask.. how much did you pay for it? Mine from Atlas Copco was around 500 euro.. but i was able to pay it only 370 :lol: :lol:

In reality people who made the armour did'nt make the etching etcetera.. usually a lot of people worked over a single piece.. The time spendt to shape the pieces is relatively small.. the time to etch and aplly the decoration is surely longer.. but i don't think so long.. For the price.. well.. this...

If i'm not wrong it should be a Zinc ingots that is applied into ships hull, it's function is to avoid hull corrosion due to some chemical - physical effects.. the "degradation" occur only on the ingot due to a lower potential.
