Depending on how big and long they are, you might look for stock that's pre rolled to that size.

Now though... I'm curious. What are the cotter pins for?

Matt-- You lost me on this one, bud. If you wear a cuffed vambrace, and the blow lands on the cuff that is covering your forearm (legal target), you take the blow. If someone is claiming that the 8"x14" piece of plywood covering his forearm from wrist to elbow is a "shield", then SCA-speaking,he ha...

I'll jump on the sell this and get a new one wagon. Thing is, it's not just gettin out a torch, whackin off an inch here and there. To do it right, it's going to take the trimming, and then a complete reshaping, replanishing, and re-polishing. Straps would need to be cut off, rivets ground out, then...

Communication issues appear resolved. White Bat armory.

Hey... that's me. On a normal day I get up and check e-mail, sit here for about an hour, then head out to the shop, and check again every hour or so as I look in on my part time shop assistant, part time trouble maker, and full time bundle of joy, age 5. I am about to perform major invasive surgery ...

Careful with the solder. Much of it still has a significant lead content. It's much more expensive than plaster, but you can actualy get a RTV (thats room temperature vulcanizing, meaning you don't have to bake it to make it set, just mix, pour, bam instant mold) rubber that is suitable for low temp...

K... pics. Glasses inside the visor. The visor line itself is about where a 'normal bar grill would sit. A bar grill would be a little further out to accomodate a nose, but the curve would be the same. Hard to see, but you can note the line of the modified bar grill. [img]http://www.whitebatarmory.c...

How about a guy with a glaive or a greatsword, with a 14"x 8" "shield" strapped to his leading forearm? That's not a shield, it's an undocumentable loophole giving the guy a weapon-proof vambrace. Gauntlets. No rules on how much surface area they can have. a proud 6 vs. the infamous half dozen.

It was explained to me that the reason for the shield rules was so that people could not tape 500 indestructable shields to themselves, covering the entirety of themselfves, and thereby being undefeatable. More sensible to me than: If you're using a 6' or longer spear, the standard shield rule is wa...

I'm rather with Gundo on this.

I'd have done a couple more rivets. But that's me.

A faux hinge top center would go a long way to make ME feel safer wearing it, and not overly affect the appearance or the 'semi-removable' aspect of it.

If you're looking at the patern in the archive it's the 2 piece bowl, then add a skirt. Have you ever dished a helmet before? If not. I would not start with the bascinet, or Sinric's sugarloaf. They're tougher than a round top, by a lot. That said, it's easier to do if you have an oval shaped dishin...
