No... but I have special 'hammers' for these cases. Basicly use either my 2" or 1" ball stakes as hammers. The 1" was actualy built specificly for this, the stake part of it is only like 8" long, #5 rebar. I smothed some, but did not grind the ridges off the rebar. Gives me a better grip. You can ei...

The spacing seems to depend on the armorer, and his skill in assembling peices.

Better builders have less space. There is just enough to let the plates slide...

Others.... I've seen 1/4" gaps. Some people call this 'loose rivet articulation'. I think it's just sloppy.

Very cool.

I think what you've done best is illustrate that mail needs a gambeson, and vice versa. It was interesting to see slightly deeper penetration in the mail without the gambeson.

Meh, we won't be rolling them per se, just folding and flattening. again a bit of rigidity, but mostly to give the softer edge to save wear and tear on the shell. Probably him too, as 18 gauge is about the same as 'steak knife'.

Hammers like halberds said. They sell them real cheap, especialy if you get the wood handled ones. I prefer the wood handles over fiberglass, but that's me. Medieval swords in tombs have been removed from their scabbards to reveal sections of surviving metal that was mirror-bright. If you can polish a sword this way, you can do the same to armour.
