Any clarification on this yet? I wear an armet without any chinstrap at all (don't need one), and don't want some uppity marshal screwing me over at an inspection... Just so you know. The armour standards specifically state that a snug fit isn't a substitute for a chinstrap. If a marshal bounces yo...

Cool.... Azommin, yes, the ear holes should be bigger. As Owen pointed out, they need to be smaller so as to not let rattan pass through. I had thought about making it larger, and then covering it with perforated steel, painted black. This one is actualy 14g stainless though, and I only have mild pe...

Regarding tools... Unfortunately, you're right. There aren't a LOT of the things you will want at the DIY stores. You need to get creative with a lot of the tools. You will probably need to either make a lot of them, or end up 'kustomizin' other tools to do the trick. Keep your eyes open for big har...

It sounds like you don't have a forge, so this probably won't work for you... but the last spring I had, I cut at the holes... it was a pretty big spring, and pushed 3/8" thick easy. To thick for a blade, and also too wide at about 2 1/2". got it hot and drew it out. I wasn't making swords, but for ...

Would you consider these to be fuglees? m Not really fuglees per se. Probably about average SCA stuff. Very shiny. maybe use a bit better articulation, but hell my stuff could too. They're likely not recreations of anything in particular, so depending on what camp you hang out in, (authenti-freak v...

(note -- I have a prejudice that the garment under the mail needs to be dark; a light color comes through and "washes" out the mail). Does anyone have any comments or opinions on any of this? Would one of the German speakers be so kind as to translate this page for me please?
Tried babbelfish, and while I don't know much German at all, it made more sense like that than it did after the fish mangled it.

I bought my first gas forge. I was a little leary of fooling around with gas connections etc. on my own. Mine has simple venturi burners. Simple venturi burners are STUPID simple.
