Gauging interest/teasing. Marlin 39A

I have in my possesion a Marlin 39A lever action .22 rifle. It will fire shorts, and longs. I've had it checked by a friend who is more knowledgeable than I, and also by the owner of a pawn shop, and they both graded it in the "Good" to "very good" condition. It's market value is...

Since there are the evil and good pair, won't the gauntlet's disintegrate with a large release of energy if they ever touched? Well yeah! Of course. But that's part of the awesome. Also... gauntlet punches are cool. If I had some software to better edit my video, and didn't think that he might see ...

With the broad trapezoids front and back over the chest and spine, having the narrow trapezoids on the shoulders?

Am I visualizing that right?

Graham's advice is really good. Especialy about the note taking. Take notes. Notes on your patterns. Many of mine are marked with what I did, or what I plan to do to them. Sometimes I just mark them "Revised" in reference to the cheek plate story above. Notes on how you put stuff together....

Usualy what happens with me, is I make something. Then I fit the next piece on. Then I trim it here by 1/4" there by 1/2" and grind it a little in the other spot just to true up that curve a bit. Then I put it on and it looks great. Then I realize that I need another one, and the original ...

Honestly... Experience kicks in quite a bit. Once you've made stuff, you can't get the paper/posterboard to do what it's supposed to, but you can get it close enough to guess. Failing that... just make the stuff. Half (or better) of the armor I've sold was supposed to be something else and ended up ...

I bought a torch for a BBQ bottle. No adapter required. The head is really only slightly bigger than the screw on bottle types, but it is WAY better as far as output.

That's largely a matter of preference. I used to always like tandy quicksets for straps. Sure, they blew out on occasion, but they were honestly easier to replace than a strap, and they would usualy give before the strap did. You can get them out with a pair of side cutters, and if you had to, set t...

I'm trying to guess scale, and assuming that you've got 1" thick insulation, it's about 9" long and 5" wide overall on the outside of the box, and 7" x 3" or so on the inside?

Would also be cool to drill tiny holes just under the inside lip of the border and sew them on to something soft like a pouch or purse or somthing.

I like the way they are different, the Tiwaz is very clean lined, and the Algiz has the sort of organic twig/branch look to it.

Or is that just to make a 'set' based on the period knees? THIS seems to be a hang-up for modern tastes/eyes. And I don't know why... my modern pants and my modern shirts are made and tailored differently. But it seems that modern armorers like to make matched sets of elbows and knees. Possibly bec...

The metal Moves soooo easy when it's hot. I think I'm gonna have to put it outside of the garage though it made things pretty smoky. I still remember my own "HOLY CRAP!" moment when trying to hammer something, and then heating it and trying again. First forge work. It really is an amazing...

I'd think that "well-seasoned" as well as well cleaned mild should be reasonably safe. Least I hope so, as that's what my cookie sheets are. :P

But that's no help as it's not white.

A tin plating would be pretty decent, have you looked at any of the kits Caswell sells?

Depending on how much practice you have with them, you might be better off charging by the curse words......

Doing them on this style hinge is probably easier than some of the others though.

Looks like a dandy re-fit though.

To my eye, it isn't a problem with the pattern. At least not one so great as to merit scrapping the pattern all together.
