The floor polish doesn't really harden the leather. The floor polish soaks into the leather, and gets hard on it's own. Left out to dry, it would get hard without the leather. So it should work on veg tan leather, or chrome tan leather, or carpet (you'll not that the living room rug is NOT the place...
