the machine i operate is an old clover (italian possibly pre-ww2) it has 14ft bedways and a 30" throw, old lathes if well maintained work just as well if not better than new lathes

poweder coating is and eceltronically charged powder that is sprayed onto the item to be coated and is then baked in an oven (at 600 degrees i beleve) where it is cured, it is very durable

a lathe with a three jaw chuck allows for simple turning and cutting of threads and is typicallly quite easy to use however threads can be tricky. A lathe witha for jaw chuck is much handier, however four jaw cjucks dojn't center themselves so you need to indicate them (which can be tricky) however ...

every monday my barony averages 15-20 fighters 3 knights one is a count one is a duke, our practise also has an out of area count (also a knight) once or twice a month

i used it for splints on somw vambraces (they were fluted) and it did nothing but crack, stick to 1050, 1045 is good to

4130 is too hard for armouring purposes, 1050 is the max iwould use before cracking becomes an issue

Stick welding is the hardest form of welding there is, mig is the easiest, take this from someone who welds to fix other peoples mistakes for a living (machinest apprentice who does mostly repair work on bearing journals but prefers to tig weld)
