In Gleann Abhann the last line in the rule on thrusting reads:
Thrusts to the top, sides, and back of the head are discouraged and need not be called.
It seems while not illegal they are frowned upon.

For Gleann Abhann the rule reads as thus: VI. CONVENTIONS OF COMBAT FOR THE KINGDOM OF GLEANN ABHANN A. Single Combat 3. A touch to the face with a thrusting tip is a killing blow. A slash to the face must be (at minimum) almost, but not quite, as hard as a good blow to any other part of the head or...

Looks like a quality gun bluing. Fire & oil also works well. for gun blueing just follow the directions on the bottle. For fire blueing heat up until it gets a purpleish color and then spray on oil. I like to use an aresol gun oil for ease of use. Keep sand ready to put the fire out when it flames up.

I punched a hole in the roof at a GW a couple years ago & fixed it with white duck tape. It sealed up the hole and blends in nicely with the white plastic. Oh BTW a 12 x 22 foot or larger tarp can be used "bathtub" style to keep water from geting in and without trenches. We use ropes to tie it to th...

Like this with no windows. http://graphics.samsclub.com/images/products/0075321680022_L4.jpg On the plus side it gives me 200 sq ft with head room to walk around so it lives better than a dome tent or cabin tent. The are faily sturdy. I've been using mine for a few years and through several storms....

I'm still camping in a white trash garage. School, Wife, Hard & Soft kit come first over a new tent to be used twice a year. But besides that I have a canopy bed at Gulfwars and it tends to keep us warm one its warm. That and a propane lantern are all I've ever needed. I'd say camp in it a few times...

Naw it should be fine. Only half the Kingdom got hit. Were a tough bunch of SOBs and it will take more than a couple natural distasters to keep us down. Trimaris tends to keep going year after year in the face of hurricanes we shall too. I doubt the boys down in Stargate will let it keep them home e...

Gulf Wars XV is still a go
m Sir John the Pursuwer, autocrat of Gulf Wars XV, has made the announcement many were waiting breathlessly for: Gulf Wars will go forward despite damage to King's Arrow Ranch from Hurricane Katrina. The following notice was posted by Sir John to the Gulf Wars staff discussion list: "For those that ...

New Klappvisor Bascient from Clay Moore
Well my wife got my Christmas present early for me this year. Its a mild steel 14ga klappvisor bascient.I won't fight in it until after Christmas but I sure wanted to show it off. I saw this on E-bay and no one bid on it. I saw it was located in Georgia so I E-mailed the seller and asked some questi...

While those whom I fight with on a regular basis would confirm I often snipe for the arm, the situation as it presents itself seems ripe for a head shot as the buckler is held at arm length at shoulder height. A quick forward & side step leaves one open to a flat snap to the neck or back of the head...

Re: Sword and Buckler Scenario - Part 1
The situation: You are fighting single combat [SCA, rattan combat] against another opponent. You are both holding your sword in your right hand and have the blade resting on your right shoulder, point back. You have a 12 inch diameter center-grip buckler held in your left hand. You are facing each ...

Actually Ivo if you rivet them in too tightly and can start to pull them through. You are correct not to rivet them so loosely that that hang but if you pull them real tightly in they will start to pull through the canvas. I have seen it happen on a friends who got a little enthusiastic with the tig...
