My CoP uses 2 layers of hemp canvas and has roofing nails for rivets. I didn't use any washers. I have been fighting in it for 2 years with very little wear. I do suggest a couple of things. first makes sure all the plates have rounded corners. Also make sure they are no sharper than the dull side o...

http://www.varmouries.com/wildrose/fiore/164.jpg m m m m I've been wondering for a while if these are bandannas or not. They're all in the longsword section of the Pissani-Dossi, though I imagine they are elsewhere too. If they are what I think they are, it would allow for a sort of period bandanna...

Yes mirror work can do wonders for your defense. Pay attention to the placement of your feet and then move about. This may require extra mirrors and an open space. Compensate for gaps in the top of your defence zone with sword work. Keep a mind f what sword shots are possible. Then when you get it d...

I would recomend splints. First of all it would look a whole lot nicer as you can make then just as you would metal splinted legs and put the splints inside the fabric. I forsee a day not to far in the future when exposed & obvious plastic will be banned society wide. Hidden plastic is not glaring a...

I honestly hope that doesn't succede I prefer as little rules entanglements as possible. It would pretty much also make a rotating weapons list a real PIA to run. But Magnus that would mean no more double elim, wounds retained, rotating weapon lists . Which to me is a good thing Vebrand Who fought ...

Ah but Morgan one used on another person it BECOMES a weapon. a shot gun is dangerous and a weapon by design yes.I have a couple and think everyone should have a pair but thats another discussion. A flare gun is also dangrous but its intent is not that as a weapon. It can become a weapon simply by a...

Vebrand to answer your question. A weapon is considered dangerous always. All Weapons are dangerous if not they would not be weapons. In an SCA context all our wepaons CAN do serious injury if improperly used or they do not meet convention in a dramatic way (rebar swords, Metal endcaps under spear h...

There is no such thing as a dangerous weapon, only dangerous people. That being said its one of the reasons I am pushing for GA to go to a weapon form auth format. Yeah it will be a pain in the butt for established fighters, including myself but it makes so much sense! Ever see a new fighter buy a ...

That said I have had a Kong mace for a year now with no incendents what so ever. I'm not the heaviest hitting guy around but I am not the lightest...

I've had aluminum shields. I now use laminated birch covered in canvas and it is MUCH lighter. I also only cover the edges with some alluminum edging and 2 layers of canvas. I fold the edging ftom the back so the front surface is rounded. This meets the requirements of edging while looking clean and...

Perhaps it would be best to let SEM finish working on what is obviously a work in progress and then extend to him your opinion based upon your view points and experiances when it is finished. To do otherwise really serves no purpose than to disrupt. I have met the current SEM and had discussion with...

I went from leather bazubands to 18 ga steel simple couters. A world of difrence. The couters are pointed to my gambeson & offers better elbow coverage and are also lighter weight. I also prefer the look. I do not use vambraces but my guantles are splinted and come almost to my couters. Try both & s...
