What is the cheesiest weapon?
I find Madu's Nagamakis & unpadded glaives all cheesy. The 1st two are not close to historical European weapons, in fact the 2nd no longer qualifies under the GS rules in Meridies and I hope it remains difficult to make under the KGA rules. The first I find often in the hands of those who are lookin...

It saddens me that some Knights feel that they must give up their belt. The men who consider this or who do this are often those who are mosted needed as an example. If you see evil than fight it Sir, and do not back away. Do not give up your order because of your feelings towards a few. Instead sho...

I decided last week not to enter. I in all honesty cannot with good conscience enter knowing the sacrifices I would have to make financially and with my education right now. It would not be fair to my wife with the sacrifices we have made for me to go back to school to extend that burden longer. Whi...

padded chausses attach your knees directly to the chausses anduse shynbalds. No need for padding then. Use linnen or cotton for the inside & outside shell (hint striped fabric on the inside makes the quilting easier) with 6 layers of cotton batting between them. use 7 layers on the area suround the ...

Copper in armor
Is there any historical precident for copper being used in armor from 1200-1400 in western europe? I see plenty of copper rivets used in leather & even some plate on the sca field. I have seen some copper plating on helms in the sca. I have not seen any copper rivets used in SCA helms though for som...

I have not YET done tempeture blueing. I have done Chemical blueing before. With chemical blueing the more steps you do the darker the color. The smaller the piece also the easier it is to do. (Helmets are a bitch!) If you are going to do heat bluein with a torch pick up some firebricks. They are fa...

What I read in the marshals handbook is thus d. Weapons used single-handed shall have a wrist strap (or equivalent restraint) which will keep the weapon from leaving the immediate area of the user. A basket hilt will be considered to be the equivalent. In a melee, the "immediate area" may be defined...
