Two years ago when I was in Greece I saw several beds that were quite similar to the ones Peder has shown. A couple of these had leather or rope straps and the others originally had them but the straps had been replaced by wire when the originals wore out. These type of beds are used today as guest ...

Stanislav;
Very nice work. Can we see that italian style arming doublet as well?

Hisse;
The cuirass floats in the plackard like a ball turret giving some extra mobility to the torso. The only connection between the two parts are the straps back and front.

Kindr, When you put the piece on the anvil, how do you know where the edge of the anvil is? If you line the edge of your piece up with the line on the anvil then you know the edge of the anvil is where the line you put on your piece is. Then you just strike slightly forward of the line on your piece...

Insane; The evidence for armour made purely out of leather for use on the battlefield is somewhat sketchy. However, leather as a part of other defences is well documented. I think you have the right idea but two things; First, heat is your friend! Anneal often or better yet raise hot! Second, I like a hammer with less of a curve to the face. I find that the metal gets thin quickly with a sharply curved face.

Very nice work and instructive pics too :D. I have a question though. The elbow guard seems to be constructed from a riveted cone as is seen on many german armours. Is there evidence visible on the Warwick effigy that it was constructed in this way instead of a raised cone?

The PMC will never be as dense and hard as cast or forged material. However, how much stress is put on the closure of a kidney pouch? I certainly would not use it on a high stress item like a belt buckle.

PMC is precious metal powder plus a binder. You fire it and the binder vaporizes. As the binder vaporizes the powdered metal consolidates resulting in a finished piece that smaller but denser than the sculpted piece. The finished piece will of course be more porous than a cast one.

Jiri, Yes, there is a reason. A propane burner that relies on venturi effect to draw air into the propane before igniting it. The propane burner Eric Thing uses does indeed have air input. There are a variety of different models but all use a venturi effect to suck air into the propane stream through an opening in the burner located in the back or side. There is a site by Ron Reil (sp?) that describes how to make them. I m...
