Cat, for the rivets that go in and you are having a hard time cutting to the right length. Put them in and mark where they need cut, then pull them out and cut to length. Reinsert and peen away. Works for me. Takes a bit more time but beats the frustration.

Wonderful event. I would go to another like it in a heart beat. Temps were a little on the warm side but a slight breeze picked up later in the day. I saw a lot of great horsemanship and fighting. The thing I liked the most was the way the majority of the kits looked. So much better than I have seen...

Carlyle is correct. I was refering to her by the title given by Freiman. I guessing (might get myself in trouble here) that she may have a male persona. Not exactly unknown and would be no different than a female knight using the title Sir instead of Dame.

Yep, you are right just trying to give it to him the easy way. ANSI is right, a properly done arc weld should be stronger than mig. Mig is not the best for penetration welds although it can be done with extra prep and work.

Yep Mike you did. A butt weld is when two pieces are butted end to end together. Make sure you leave just the littlest gap between the plates so you can get good penetration on the first pass. Normally I like to do the first weld on the inside and use the pass on the outside as a filler. Then you ca...

Although the statement is in ounces only, it is an abbreviation of ounces per square foot. The thickness value can be obtained by the conversion: 1...

Materials and time. Mostly time. You are working with relatively small parts that have to shaped, planished and polished just like the larger ones. By adding the fingers you are adding about 18 extra pieces to the overall product. Then you have align all the parts, rivet them to the leather strips a...

Translated out this way.

Compound from carved bone plates, single-row with triangular grasp plate, including Futteral. With Prunktkreisen verziert, at the edge carved horse heads.

So it looks like bone, but I am sure someone can translate it better.

Most people use nails, makes great rivets. They have a low enough profile that they will not require filing or anything like that. Don't ask me the size of the nail, it escapes me at the time.
