#3 works for me. yesterday i maide some vambraces but i got frustrated so i took my old ones out side and inialated them with a axe.im going to have to try that dishing method(good idea).

my squire brother Will has done allot of chain maille he usually uses 14g galvanized. you used 18g thats insane i cant belive i didnt fall apart. but any way why bazzubands(SP) folcric is it middle eastern or do you just like the look.i also have 14th century kit it includes COP, gambason, spalders,...

hello.
well im just starting realy but so far ive made a pair of splinted arms and im working on splinted legs.i dont have to many tools, though i finaly got my hf shear on friday.and i have a couple stakes.how about you?

maille collars were used in the 14c.they had boiled leather under it and then a thingy of maille over it.but they werent as tight fiting as the maille stantard of the 15c though.

i would suggest spanggen but welding was used in period just it ws done in a forge so there for its not realy cheating
