flonzy, ive studied "fighting" videos for more than half my life (4 years of boxing, 12 years of sca) and i was commenting on the movements of the weapons and the bodies using them. they both look slow to me. again, the videos on that site are crappy quality and too short to be of any use. its not t...

Re: lacrosse elbows in SCA combat
lacrosse pads by themselves are not enough. i have personally injured some people through them and have received some injuries while wearing them. if you are going with the leather things you should put something behind them but i dont think you need so much. a nice volleyball elbow should do it. le...

i dont think it would stop anyone from doing stupid, malicious, senseless, idiotic, or cowardly things to the videos. hell, its already been done once. and that attempt was as pointless as it was moronic im not really sure how i feel about people making copies of my stuff to give to other people. if...

those files are out there in several places. but no, i think they served their purpose and cleared the air. i did put them in part of one of my practice dvds (practice by which i mean learning how to use the software) to the tune of dmx "bring your whole crew". it was funny to watch in slow motion a...

i would love to discuss this with you at pennsic flonzy. go over some of what you are talking about and see some of your wrap defence. i think the way most people in the sca (98% = most) teach their students how to throw wraps is poo poo. of course i had to get some major surgery done to repair the ...

Re: SCA video
does anyone have any decent quality video of "full force" aemma stuff. i looked at the short little snippets on that site and the are small files and poor quality. its just very hard to get a feel for it with them. shots dont look hard at all to me but, again, it might just be the file size/quality....

yep thats the plan. the stainless line will actually run through the false "stillage" leg i put in the rear (it will be hollow). this will allow the line to run out and under the bar top to the concealed keg and co2 tanks held underneath. i was goign to put in a petcock of some kind to drain the mel...

the rule seems very clear to me. in the first sentence it states "to strike an illegal target area". the head is not an illegal target area when defined as it is further in that same sentence "wrist, knee, hand, etc". "etc" would be shin, calf, finger, toe, ankle, whatever. if you have seen marshals...

Re: Combat Instructors ?
studying a bunch of books on brain surgery without any direct tutelage or observation doesnt make you a brain surgeon. you can only learn so much by yourself when it comes to an activity that requires two people to occur. and the manuals are interesting in, and of, themselves but wont do much to hel...

Re: SCA archers
target archery is a noble and knightly past time and a skill set that is mastered by few. the rules for target archery are all pretty much the same with only a few kingdoms doing things a bit differently from the others. what kingdom are you in (or what is your modern location)? that way we can dire...

curious. can you name one kingdom and point out the specific rule to me so i can look it up? seems like another one of those situations that is impossible to gauge. in other words fighter 1 says he was ducking to avoid the shot completely. the marshal says "you ducked so it would hit your helm". per...
