Re: Early SCA combat footage.

im currently capturing some more video from my collection after a very long break. i was hesitant to copy the tape i have of me (and about six others though i do not think any of them have played in years) my fifth or sixth time in armour. this would be around 1990 - 91. it is the first tape i have ...

glad to hear. the local guys involved with the local fighters is a problem as much as the crew of marshals that think its a bad thing to say no to anyone. i know they exist, ive heard them say it to me, ive seen the results. sadly they do a greater disservice to those that are not ready, or able, to...

Re: Does this count as calling it light?

sure we do, according to the rules. do we hit that hard? i have no idea if we do or not. ive never hit someone with an actual sword. perhaps you have, i dont know. what i was commenting on was that our rules suggest that we are to strike with blows that would kill or incapacitate someone. regardless...

Re: Does this count as calling it light?

well when you cant seem to land anything hard enough you sometimes have to suck it up and throw a thrust to the chin as hard as you can. i threw two, both landed, i won. so i guess it can be said that ive won a crown with face thrusts. ya know, with that getting out there and the machida/couture fig...

of course not. but if i did face thrust, which happens once every 10,000 blows or so, i would throw a hard and solid one.

i agree, i dont want to have to hit folks with all my power either. i should be able to without worrying too much though. if someone is wearing properly fitted armour i can. ive also never advocated full force face thrusts as the way it should be done. i think we are looking for the same thing (alth...
