That's what the other 2 books are for.

Josh,
No weights and measures, the main books do that, this is just very close details, more of an art book.

Sorry I did not check the link and didn't realize that it didn't link directly to the Arming coats page. I'm glad you like them. NOTE: If you tailor the mail on the skirt, it won't gap badly like these are. The third and forth ones on the top row have tailored sleeves and this also makes a big diffe...

The ones you are looking for are not black and white. They are blued and gilded. There are 12 suits. For combat on foot. If memory serves, They are in the Met, Poland (Not sure where), Royal Armouries (Tower), St. Petersburg, Dresden and I'm not sure where the others are. Here is a pic. http://www.h...

Do you know Jaap Koppedrayer? (Yumi)
He has been making natural composite bows for a while and has some interesting experience with bow power verses shape.

I meant to post this earlier; it looks like Toby’s harness did not sell at the auction. (Does anyone here know otherwise?) All other lots that received bids show a bid and selling price, Toby's armour has none. I think it was more than the current market will bear.

Keep in mind; if you glue it and it doesn’t hold, welding it after will be a bitch. Because getting all of the glue cleaned off will be next to impossible. Then welding effectively is really tough. If TIG is not an option, then the gas welding with specially designed filler wire sounds like a good...

I appreciate all of the tips. The only welding I have available to me is Oxy-acet. The only real buildup on the piece is a little surface rust, which will be cleaned off. Much appreciated all. If the piece is important, you should seek out a welder with TIG equipment. I am not sure the gas welding ...

I don;t know about welding with copper wire. i highly doubt you would get penetration, no doubt in my mind you could fill the gaps, but penetration i doubt it. Makes me wonder at the old "copper doesn't weld trick" IE clampig a piece of copper under a hole to be plug welded. The point about stainle...

I don't agree with some of the advice listed above. My father was one of the top welders in the country (a very many years ago) and he developed a technique for welding cast iron many years ago that is (or a variation of) used today. There are 2 problems with cast metals, porosity and expansion/ con...

There are a number of items braided /woven with horse hair in the late 19th century in the American west. Many of these items made by inmates.
Whips, hat bands, bridels, and so on. You may find some information in that direction.

It looks nice. You might try a very thinned "wash" of brown and black artists acrylics over the gold and wipe it off, so it is left in the low points only. It will help contrast the relief work without looking painted. It is a fine balance of amount and color, so experiment. If you don't like it you...
