Great photos, thanks for sharing. At Le Armee It looks like they have changed many of the displays. It looks much better and you can see the early armour better. I can't wait to go back and see.

You should see the fighting at the Viking market in Wolin Poland. They require less armour than the SCA and fight with steel. Much faster and harder. They are crazy. My spring steel spagen helm got creased by a Dane axe.

Interesting. I have never seen that. Now, I am by no means an expert on this. The Mac Maximilian gauntlets I have, have no palm strap and they work quite well. So I don’t know.

If you want to avoid the strap on the palm, many period gauntlets have tabs of leather riveted into the sides of the gauntlet and the glove is sewn to these. Same at the cuff and finger tips. I did NOT say that I felt Pat was a better armourer than Mac. What I had inferred was that making a suit starting with an iron bloom was going a step farther than starting with a sheet of steel.
